What it does

Codex is OpenAI's coding agent. It runs locally on your computer from the terminal, as a plugin for VS Code, Cursor and Windsurf, as a desktop app, or as Codex Web at chatgpt.com/codex, and takes a task in natural language to read, edit and run code in a project. The CLI is published under the Apache-2.0 licence; you sign in with a ChatGPT account on the Plus, Pro, Business, Edu or Enterprise plan, or use an API key.
